    Inventors of Adventures - 2018 - Villa Arson, Nice

    "The end of utopias, the end of avant-gardes, the end of grand narratives... the current history of art began with a grand curtain fall. In this landscape of dazzling ruins, to be 'an artist' means, first and foremost, overcoming everything that naturally inclines one not to add yet another object to a world that already has so many. And if the artist does so, it is undoubtedly because something deep within them still drives them to believe that not all paths have been explored, that not all horizons have been extinguished. Are these artists, these inventors of adventures, the last heroes or the last 'fallen figures' of our civilization, struggling to tell its own story? The first episode explores, at the Friche Belle de Mai, the artistic practices of a contemporary narrative that draws from microscopic, intimate, sometimes even familial stories, all the way to collective narratives that unite passions and emancipations, and even the media narratives that punctuate the daily life of our society. Organized like the pages of a story without progression, without a beginning or an end, the exhibition is traversed like the pages of a newspaper or a magazine whose table of contents has been obliterated."

"Following her collaboration with the artisans of the Riba Guixà tannery in Catalonia, Amandine Guruceaga has explored a tanning and coloring process for lamb skins that she develops in pieces that exist at the intersection of painting and sculpture. Illuminated by light, these pieces reveal, through their transparency, all the traces, grooves, and irregular grain of the animal's flesh. The form of its unfolded body and the vicissitudes of its short existence are reconstructed."

    Inventeurs d'Aventures - 2018 - Villa Arson, Nice

    « Fin des utopies, fin des avant-gardes, fin des grands récits… l'histoire actuelle de l’art a commencé par un grand tomber de rideau. Dans ce paysage de ruines éclatantes, être «un artiste», c'est d'abord surmonter tout ce qui devrait naturellement incliner à ne pas ajouter un objet de plus, dans un monde qui en compte déjà beaucoup. Et si l'artiste le fait, c'est sans aucun doute que quelque chose au fond de lui le porte encore à croire que tous les chemins n'ont pas été explorés, que tous les horizons ne sont pas encore éteints. Ces artistes, ces inventeurs d'aventures, sont-ils les derniers héros ou les dernières « figures déchues » de notre civilisation qui peine à raconter sa propre histoire? 
Premier épisode explore à la Friche Belle de Mai les pratiques artistiques d’un récit contemporain qui se nourrit des histoires microscopiques, intimes, parfois même familiales, jusqu’aux récits collectifs qui fédèrent les passions et les émancipations, en passant par les récits médiatiques qui rythment le quotidien de notre société. Organisée comme les pages d’une histoire sans progression, sans début ni fin, l’exposition se parcourt comme les pages d’un journal ou d’un magazine dont on aurait oblitéré le sommaire. »

"À la suite de sa collaboration avec les artisans de la tannerie Riba Guixà en Catalogne, Amandine Guruceaga a exploré un procédé de tannage et de coloration de peaux d’agneaux qu’elle développe dans des pièces qui se situent à la croisée de la peinture et de la sculpture. Traversées par la lumière, celles-ci dévoilent, grâce à leur transparence, toutes les traces, les sillons et le grain irrégulier de la chair de l’animal. On reconstitue la forme de son corps déplié, les aléas de sa courte existence."
